Be a Star at Eagan Summer Stage Performing Arts Camps

Six Exciting, engaging camps for grades 1-9

June, July & August

Three fun-filled camp formats to suit all types of actors and actresses:

Summer Stage:

Beginning and experienced performers will develop skills in Music, Movement, Acting and Improvisation. Campers will develop theatre skills through games, storytelling, performance exercises and script work. Campers will work with experienced staff to learn basic dance steps, stage movement, vocal work, working in ensemble and group performance, creating musical instruments, and other essential theatre skills. Each five-day camp focuses on all these skills in a fun, active environment and includes a performance for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Showtime:

We recommend that campers have completed one of our Summer Stage camps. At Showtime! campers take part in all aspects of creating a live stage show. All campers have an active role in designing costumes, writing scripts, planning choreography and rehearsing for a staged performance to bring together a lively variety show on the Eagan High School stage. Daily sessions at this ten day camp consist of rehearsals and preparation for a show, as well as fun group activities. The final day features a live performance on stage!

The Audition:

“THE AUDITION” is designed specifically for students in grades 5 - 9 during the 2023-2024 school year.

Campers need not have attended previous camps, but will certainly benefit form the skills learned in the Performing Arts Camp process. During this five day camp, we will address the skills students need to audition for musicals and plays in school and the Twin Cities theatre scene. In this comfortable setting students and highly qualified college student staff will focus on:

• Vocal solos and sight reading

• Monologues, “cold” reading, and partnered scene reading

• Solo and group dance genres often used in audition settings

• Developing confidence in the audition process

• Adjusting and adapting to director requests

Students will work in the familiar small-group classes with staff who have extensive experience both in their performing fields and in the audition environment, to develop a portfolio of audition materials. They will tour Eagan High School’s superior facilites and get a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of EHS’s theatre program. Students will also have the benefit of a mock audition process as the culmination of the camp. There will be a showcase on Friday at camp at 2:30 PM.
